I forgot to blog last week, Sorry!
So here it is:
Elgen and I just won the Triple J Unearthed Groovin' The Moo competiton.. We'll be playing the main stage at the Maitland festival. I can't tell you how excited we are haha, This will officially be the first time IFS have hit a festival, and we couldn't be more psyched. We'll be playing a whole tonne of new album material, plus some jams from the EP, so hopefully we can really turn it on for the crowd there.
We're also in last weeks Drum Media magazine with a small interview, and if you're a Triple J head, you might hear When The Rain Hits getting a bit of play, as it's recently been put on high rotation, which we're pumped about. If you want to request it on super request, please don't hold back. Haha.
That's all i've really got now, Because, well, I'm watching Entourage. Haha.
But go download When The Rain Hits for free from http://www.triplejunearthed.com/ElgenAndJohnnyUtah !
Peace!

Johnny Utah
This is hopefully the first of many of my contributions to the IFS blog, So how about i ease into it by giving you all a run down on where I'm at? Yeah? Excellent.
So, Basically We're writing, producing and recording my debut LP at the moment. To be perfectly honest, I'm feeling really good about the direction it's taking.
Though this is a solo Johnny Utah album, Elgen is handling all the production, So things should be nice and cohesive.
For those of you who bought, burnt or downloaded Mine and Elgens EP 'The Welcoming Party', I'm hoping you can dig on what we're doing with this.
Although, so far it's alot different, rest assure that Elgen is still a freak, so the production on this guy is something else all together.
At the moment we're just really focusing on making sure that everything is working on a cohesive level, thankfully I'm not butting heads with The Moose every day, so i think we're achieving that, haha.
Right now we're working on a song that samples some friends of mine, a Punk band called Waterview.
It's a little bit different to anything we've ever done before, so fingers crossed it works.
" They want a clone and i won't be
stand where i am, hold my ground like an oaktree
let 'em march in their packs
while i carry the weight of my words with the arch of my back
and i believe in a beast
i believe that a world without freedom is a world without speech "
That's really about all i can muster at the moment, I'll try to be a little more entertaining next time, Haha.
Peace,
J.U

Just finished writing....
Another poem this scene has inspired me to make
I see the top and you can bet that its a climb I gotta make
We do another release just trying to escape
from this place amongst all the little fighting and their hate
The truth is I wish time is all it takes,
But music seems to take away my life in every way
I love my family but we fight when I away
coz their frightened that ive changed from the kind of boy they raised
I hate this biz but my clients why I stay
There’s nothing more I want but for their rhymes to bring em fame
My IFS crew I know the heights that we can make
If we saddle up, grit our teeth and ride without the breaks
Im wise enough to say this mic may never pay
But that’ll never stop us from the flights to every state
Making friends and fans by spitting a rhyme up on a stage
Reminds me every time why my life is on my page
Another crazy album likely to go to waste
Cause radio cant find the time to be giving it play
And without them this grind may never pay
It’s a hard pill to swallow their decisions hold our fate
Its insane that you aint got a contract
They saw my art and didn’t like what we made
And cause we wouldn’t change was on that
they sent us packing out the door to find our own way
We’ll be major without being signed to a chain
Come and see a truly independent fight for the fame
And now that they’ve seen all this hype we have gained
labels hit me up on email to sign us again
see being broke isn’t what we strive to attain
but these labels will try for every dime that we make
if your not with em your against em it’s the price that we pay
we apply for a festivals “sorry your slightly to late”
and hip hop politics is what im trying to evade
Our loudest played track couldnt silence all the hate
They diss us everytime cause we don’t slide into their frame
I guess its only natural when your frightened of change
